Renting vs. Owning

Both owning and renting can have their advantages. The better choice for you depends on your circumstances. Here are some of the things to keep in mind when you weigh the benefits of renting against the benefits of owning, both from a financial and a personal perspective.

Financial Considerations

Knowing where homeownership fits into your larger financial plan is important. Ask yourself: Would I need to make changes in my budget to buy a home? Would it mean stretching to my financial limits? Would owning allow me to still maintain my other savings goals (such as contribution to my retirement fund) and stay prepared for potential costly home emergencies  such as a new roof or heating/cooling system?

The New York Times had this to say about our up & coming Design District: “Five years ago, you’d have been hard-pressed to find a cocktail-craving 30-something headed to a haute bar in Dallas’s design district, a once-industrial enclave centrally situated close to the Main Street district, near downtown. But now the design district is attracting new retailers, deep-pocketed developers and plenty of shoppers, thanks to a slew of buzz-worthy restaurants, chic stores and daring art galleries opening alongside brand-new apartments and lofts.”

Christopher Fagan joined the Bamboo Realty Houston office in January 2014. He brings over 13 years of real estate experience to the firm including property management and rental search services. His areas of expertise include the Energy Corridor, Cinco Ranch, West Memorial, the booming Westchase District as well as Katy, TX.

Most recently Christopher was with another local firm, Apartment Search, where he was the top producing agent in 2011, 2012 and 2013. During that time he was promoted to office manager and assigned to recruit and train new agents for the firm.

Along with real estate experience, Christopher also spent five years in Iraq where he oversaw troop morale and recreation. For example he coordinated weekly tournaments for pool, video gaming, sports, etc. so the troops could "find a piece of home and enjoyment" even while overseas.

When not hard at work, you will find Christopher at home enjoying time with his wife and two young children. He is a big movie buff and rarely does a day go by where he doesn't sneak movie quotes into casual conversation.

Welcome Christopher!
